Kevin Costner may play Leonardo DiCaprio's right-hand-man in Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained

So, Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming spaghetti western film DJANGO UNCHAINED will be adding another A-lister (or former if you’re being mean about it) to the roster in the form of Kevin Costner. Mr. Costner is in talks to play Ace Woody, the mandingo trainer who is the right-hand-man of Calvin Candie (played by Leonardo DiCaprio). Candie is the slave-trader villain of the film, who employs a slave named Stephen (Samuel L. Jackson). Our hero, Django (played by Jamie Foxx) has a buddy named Dr. King Schultz (Christoph Waltz). So how do all of these people mesh together? Well, Django is a former slave of Candie and is about to rescue his wife who is still a slave under Candie’s reign. See, simple although I’m sure there will be much more complexity- it is Tarantino after all.

As mentioned above, this nearly-guaranteed-fabulous-film will be written and directed by Quentin Tarantino, so we are sure to have some hilarious and cringe-worthy scenes ahead of us. It also looks like casting is starting to wrap up, but the main female lead, Broomhilda, is not cast quite yet. Kerry Washington was rumored to play the part, but apparently there is a lot of nudity involved, though that may or may not be the reason she dropped out.

DJANGO UNCHAINED is set to start shooting later this year and is set for release on December 25, 2012.
