Robert Patrick joins Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling in The Gangster Squad

Robert Patrick (best known for his performance in the 1991 classic TERMINATOR 2: JUDGEMENT DAY) has just joined the cast of THE GANGSTER SQUAD and will play the character Max Kennard (which was going to be played by Bryan Cranston until recently). Kennard is a recently relocated police office from Texas who joins the LAPD and will help take down the East Coast Mafia ringleader Mickey Cohen (Sean Penn). The film will also star Ryan Gosling as a fellow police officer as well as Emma Stone who will portray a sassy onlooker who finds herself in a love triangle with Gosling and Penn’s characters. The film will be directed by Ruben Fleischer (ZOMBIELAND) and is set to hit theaters sometime in 2013.
I’m not typically one for gangster films, but I think this one sounds really interesting. True crime stories like these tend to be fascinating and full of little history tidbits which are fun to throw out at dinner parties. I love a film that makes me smarter.
