Rooney Mara looks innocent in new images from Tanner Hall

Perhaps sensing that Rooney Mara’s star is almost completely set to take off with this winter’s THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO, Anchor Bay is ready to pounce on the hype machine and release the 2009 film TANNER HALL. Well, I should say that the film was finished in 2009 but has yet to see a release date. Her boarding schoolgirl character in TANNER HALL is a drastic contrast to her sexually charged Lisbeth Salander in Tattoo, so no one is going to be able to accuse Mara of being typecasted. TANNER HALL has a limited release on September 9th, but my guess is Anchor Bay is really hoping to capitalize on DVD/Blu-ray sales of the film come Christmas time. Along with Mara, the Francesca Gregorini film stars Georgia King, Brie Larson, Amy Ferguson, Amy Sedaris and Tom Everett Scott.
TANNER HALL is about a sheltered school girl, Fernanda (Mara) whose world gets shaken up when the free-spirited Victoria (Georgia King) rejoins her school. After Fernanda starts a complicated relationship with an older family friend (Tom Everett Scott), Victoria gets jealous and sets out on a plot to humiliate her. But even though the girls go through many trials and tribulations on their way to adulthood, they come to realize that they need each other through it all.
