Hayley Atwell, Rosamund Pike and Alexa Davalos competing to star opposite Tom Cruise in One Shot

One of Tom Cruise’s upcoming projects entitled ONE SHOT, an adaptation of the Lee Child crime thriller, is in the midst of casting a female lead, and three actresses are on the shortlist. Hayley Atwell (CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER), Rosamund Pike (WRATH OF THE TITANS) and Alexa Davalos (CLASH OF THE TITANS) are up to star opposite Cruise in the film about a homicide investigator who digs deeper into a case involving a trained military sniper who has shot five random victims. The film will be directed by Christopher McQuarrie (who also adapted the screenplay) and production is tentatively set to start this fall in Pittsburgh, PA, so a casting decision should be made shortly.

I’m a fan of Tom Cruise’s work, but I do have a tough time imagining him as a hard-boiled investigator. I’ll be interested to see how this film develops and which actress wins the role, as it’s sure to give her career a good boost.
