Jason Reitman’s last two directorial efforts, JUNO and UP IN THE AIR, have done very well around awards season, the first of which put screenwriter Diablo Cody on the map. He’s gone back to the well and reteamed with Cody on the film YOUNG ADULT. The film stars Charlize Theron as an immature young-adult fiction writer that returns to her small town home to chase after her now married with kids ex-boyfriend. Early word says the film is darker than anything Reitman has done and the lead character is one that audiences will love to hate. You can kind of get that vibe from the illustrated poster, which has Theron passed out, holding a bottle of alcohol in a room that looks like it belongs to a little girl.
Along with Theron, the film stars Patton Oswalt as her drinking buddy and features narration by J.K. Simmons. The film hits theaters on December 9th.
