Now that George Clooney is out of Steven Soderbergh’s THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E. the journey for a replacement is on.

According to a source close to the production, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ryan Gosling or Alexander Skarsgard are being looked at to take a leading role. There are actually two leading roles but there was no indication of whether this was just for one character or both. If they are replacing Clooney, then the role up for grabs is American spy Napolean Solo. While his native country is Sweden, Skarsgard could easily play Russian spy Ilya Kuryakin who works with Solo to take down the Technological Hierarchy for the Removal of Undesirables and the Subjugation of Humanity (aka THRUSH).

U.N.C.L.E was originally a show in the 1960s starring Robert Vaughn and David McCallum. Before filming the world of spy buddies, Soderbergh is working on MAGIC MIKE with Channing Tatum and Alex Pettyfer.
