Liam Hemsworth joins Sylvester Stallone and Bruce Willis in The Expendables 2

The rumor mill has been churning feverishly the last few months about which washed up action stars and up and coming wannabes would be featured in THE EXPENDABLES 2. We got confirmation about a week ago that Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger were officially on board, this time in much bigger roles. Then we heard that Taylor Lautner was being courted for a role. Whether or not the Twilight star eventually joins the over 50 club remains to be seen, but until then, we have official word that Liam Hemsworth has officially signed on. Hemsworth is set to become a household name after appearing in the insanely popular series of movies, THE HUNGER GAMES, hitting theaters in 2012.

We also have word that Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Mickey Rourke and Terry Crews are all going to be returning, but we don’t know in what capacity. Simon West is directing the sequel, which is slated for a release date of August 17th, 2012. So let the speculation begin as to which actor will be playing the father to Liam Hemsworth.
