Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Robert Downey Jr. and Jeremy Renner in new images from The Avengers

Well, that was close. I was appalled at the cover of the recent Entertainment Weekly, mainly because the images looked incredibly cheesy (what was up with Mark Ruffalo’s pursed lips – he looks like Zoolander). But thankfully, that was not a sign of things to come and was merely some lazy magazine editor trying to fit everyone on the cover. Now we get some real photos from the new film, this time featuring all of our favorite heroes in action. Although I’m still not sure about Captain America’s new suit.

THE AVENGERS stars Chris Evans (Captain America), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Mark Ruffalo (The Hulk), Tom Hiddleston (Loki) and Stellan Skarsgard (Erik Selvig). The Joss Whedon directed film hits theaters everywhere on May 4th, 2012.
