Mark Wahlberg and Kate Beckinsale in the Contraband trailer
Posted by: Brad Sturdivant
Mark Wahlberg is one of the most polarizing actors at the offices of Flix66. The guy has his supporters around here (although I think it has more to do with how he looks with his shirt off than with his acting), but I’m growing tired of his schtick. Although, to his credit, his latest innocent-guy-that-happens-to-be-tough movie, CONTRABAND, looks like it may be fun. I like the inclusion of Kate Beckinsale, who appears to have more than just a supporting female role in an otherwise male-dominated action film. I don’t have high hopes for this, but it looks like a decent way to fill up a movie night.
The film actually has a decent cast, including Giovanni Ribisi as a bad guy, J.K. Simmons, Diego Luna, Ben Foster, Lukas Haas and Caleb Landry Jones (Banshee from X-MEN: FIRST CLASS). The film is directed by Baltasar Kormakur, who actually starred in the Icelandic original, REYKJAVIK-ROTTERDAM. The film hits theaters everywhere on January 13th.
