The story for installments six and seven of Fast and the Furious could be combined

When it comes to the FAST AND THE FURIOUS franchise, I find myself watching even though it is sort of dumb. The films always end up reeling me in somehow.
With the success of FAST FIVE, it looks like installments six and seven will shoot back to back with a single connecting story between them. FAST AND THE FURIOUS six is already set to release on May 24, 2013 but now with this new plan they may have to bump that back a bit. They want to shoot both films next year with Justin Lin at the helm.
This is not an uncommon practice as its currently happening with THE HOBBIT and in the past with BACK TO THE FUTURE and PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN. There’s no comment on what the story for the next films will be though the studio has mentioned that they want to focus more on the heist aspect than the cars.
