Chris Evans replaces James Franco in The Iceman

Posted by: Brad Sturdivant

Almost a year ago, James Franco, Michael Shannon and Benicio Del Toro were going to team up for THE ICEMAN, the true story about one of the most ruthless assassins for the mob.  Then Franco dropped out and the production was kind of left hanging.  But Michael Shannon stayed on board and now they’ve found Franco’s replacement in the form of Chris Evans (no word on whether or not Del Toro is still involved).  Evans will play Robert Pronge, who served as a mentor to Richard Kuklinski (The Iceman).  All around creepy-looking guy Michael Shannon is set to play Kuklinski.

Personally, I consider Evans a step up from Franco, but this is a little darker (as in “evil”, not “dramatic”) territory for Captain America.  Ariel Vroman is directing the film, which is based off the book of the same name by Anthony Bruno.  Production is set to start next month.
