Ethan Hawke, Julie Delpy and Richard Linklater could reunite for another sequel to Before Sunrise

BEFORE SUNRISE and BEFORE SUNSET are two fan favorite films that seem to be cherished amongst those that enjoy them.  They’re great films and wonderful character studies and ever since the second one was released in 2004, fans have wondered if stars Ethan Hawke, Julie Delpy and director Richard Linklater would return again to do a third film.  Well, it looks like the answer is yes.  While speaking to the French magazine Allocine, Hawke said:

“Well, I don’t know what we’re going to do but I know the three of us have been talking a lot in the last six months, all three of us have been having similar feelings that we’re ready to revisit those characters. There’s nine years between the first two movies and, if we made the film next summer, it would be nine years again so we’re really started thinking that would be a good thing to do. We’re going to try write it this year.”

So that sounds like another sequel might be closer than we thought.  The timeline is a little aggressive, but considering these films are low budget and quick to make, it definitely sounds possible.  I know a lot of people loved the first sequel, but I was disappointed where they took Hawke’s character.  I thought they turned him into a bit of a jerk and it changed the overall tone of the film.  But I did love how they ended it.
