Tom Hanks eyes adaptation of In the Garden of Beasts

If you’re like me, then you long for the days when Tom Hanks was starring in an Oscar-worthy film almost every year. But that was a while ago and instead, we’ve seen him in a series of disappointments that haven’t been well received by critics and audiences alike. But there’s hope that arguably the greatest actor working today can go back to his glory days, especially when you hear about him picking up rights to something like Erik Larsen’s non-fiction book ‘In the Garden of Beasts: Love, Terror and an American Family in Hitler’s Berlin’. The film/novel is about American ambassador William E. Dodd who moved to Berlin in 1933 with his wife, son and daughter. Obviously, things go bad when Dodd realizes what the Nazi party is up to and starts relaying their actions back to America.
Everything is in the very early stages, but if Hanks takes this on, it could be a fantastic film and might even return him to Oscar glory. We’ll keep you updates as news progresses.
