The idea of a “method” actor has always been fascinating to me. And there’s no actor around right now that takes method acting as seriously as Daniel Day-Lewis. Rumors have persisted that DDL doesn’t break character for anyone, at any time and is even known to start his character before filming even begins. I guess it’s possible that’s one of the reasons the guy gets so lost in all of his roles. Next up for the extremely talented actor is Steven Spielberg’s long in the works biopic on President Lincoln, titled LINCOLN.

Today we get a very early pic of Day-Lewis as President Lincoln, eating at a diner in Virginia (where they’re currently shooting) and the image is so perfect, you wonder if it wasn’t staged. But anyway, this gives us the idea of what he’ll look like in the film and obviously, he looks spot-on as the 16th President of the United States. LINCOLN is set to star Daniel Day-Lewis, Tommy Lee Jones, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Hal Holbrook, James Spader, Lee Pace, Jackie Earl Haley John Hawkes, Tim Blake Nelson, Bruce McGill, Joseph Cross, David Costabile, Byron Jennings, Dakin Matthews, Boris McGiver, Gloria Reuben, Jeremy Strong and David Warshofsky
