Tom Cruise takes the lead in All You Need Is Kill

Posted by: Zack Bruce

If you get Tom Cruise to agree to be in your project, you can bet that it will be put on the fast track. ALL YOU NEED IS KILL was in limbo for some time. Doug Liman has been set to direct but originally the script called for a younger actor in the lead. Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Ryan Gosling were being looked at to star initially. One of the executives at Warner Brothers really wanted a massive star to take the role. Lucky for him, after Cruise read the role he was smitten.

The script has already been rewritten to fit Cruise’s age. The film, based on a graphic novel, focuses on a soldier in a war against aliens finds himself reliving his last day over and over after being killed. Through the training and battles he experiences in these time loops, he becomes a better soldier.

Who wants to relive the day they were killed over and over? After Cruise finishes up filming on ONE SHOT and OBLIVION, he will get to work on ALL YOU NEED IS KILL at the end of 2012.
