It’s odd to think this way after his illustrious career, but the only way I could tell LAY THE FAVORITE isn’t a straight to DVD movie was the fact that it stars Rebecca Hall and Vince Vaughn. Seeing Bruce Willis as the headliner through me for a second. But apparently Mr. Willis is ready to climb out of the straight to DVD territory after starring in such gems as SET UP and CATCH .44. LAY THE FAVORITE is about a 30-something woman that gets involved with a mixed bunch of crooks that have found a way to cheat the Vegas online betting system.
It does have an impressive cast going for it, including Bruce Willis, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Rebecca Hall, Vince Vaughn, Laura Prepon, Frank Grillo and Corbin Bernsen. The film is directed by Stephen Frears, who also directed HIGH FIDELITY and THE QUEEN. The film is set to hit theaters some time in 2012.
