It’s hard to imagine that before 2011 began, Jessica Chastain was relatively unknown to the general movie going population. But after four good movies in 2011 (THE DEBT, THE TREE OF LIFE, TAKE SHELTER, THE HELP), the actress has been linked to just about every lead actress role available. Next up for the stunning redhead is the lead role in the adaptation of the Russell Banks novel THE DARLING. In the film, Chastain will play Hannah Musgrave, a Canadian political extremist that gets exiled to West Africa with her husband. Once there, they meet and befriend a dangerous warlord that eventually threatens her life.
The film is set to be helmed by INCENDIES director Denis Villeneuve and will span a time period of about 16 years. Jessica Chastain is currently set to start filming OBLIVION with Tom Cruise, but also has THE WETTEST COUNTY IN THE WORLD and MAMA on the way.
