Gus Van Sant set to direct Matt Damon in John Krasinski's drama

As you may recall, Matt Damon was set to make his directorial debut with an untitled script that was handpicked by John Krasinski (‘The Office’).  The film was based off an idea from Krasinski, who paid Dave Eggers to write the script (which he and Damon eventually edited).  Well, it turns out that the extremely busy Matt Damon has decided that he won’t be able to commit to the time required to direct a feature film, but has agreed to still star in the film with Krasinski.  To fill the void left by Damon, they’ve reached out to Gus Van Sant (who previously directed Damon in GOOD WILL HUNTING).

The film is described as Capra-esque (as in, Frank Capra) and revolves around two competing executives in a small town.  But one of the executives experiences a life changing event when he moves to the small town and he begins to question his life.
