First look at Vin Diesel on the set of the new Riddick sequel

I wasn’t even aware that filming had begun on a sequel to THE CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK. Vin Diesel has been talking about it for a while and we’ve seen some concept art and have even had a few casting announcements, but it’s a little surprising they’ve started filming already. But things work fast in Hollywood and Diesel took to his Facebook page to post the first set photo of himself in full Riddick gear. You can’t tell anything from one set photo (is that a cape he’s wearing, or just a bad angle?), but fans of the series should be happy to know that a sequel is definitely happening.

Joining Diesel this time around are Katee Sackoff, Jordi Molla and Nolan Funk. Karl Urban has been rumored to be making an appearance, but he hasn’t been confirmed just yet. The David Twohy directed film will hit theaters some time in 2013.
