Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and Zach Galifianakis are close to a deal for The Hangover Part 3
They’ve been talking about THE HANGOVER PART III since THE HANGOVER PART II was in the planning phases, so another sequel shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone. And since both films made serious bank at the box office ($277 million and $254 million for the original and sequel respectively), it shouldn’t be surprising that the three main stars are about to cash in big time. The asking price right now is $15 million a piece, meaning Warner Bros. will be throwing down $45 million on the film with only three parts cast at this point. But given how much money the films have grossed and the fact that they made about $1 million and then $5 million for the first two films, I wouldn’t say it’s unreasonable. I’m sure WB will pay because without Harry Potter or Nolan’s Batman, they need to keep a franchise alive.
If everything goes right, the third film will start filming this summer for a 2013 Memorial Day release. And rest assured that director Todd Phillips has promised the idea for 3 is drastically different from 1 and 2. We’ll see.
