I find the marketing (or lack thereof) for Robert Pattinson’s BEL AMI to be very confusing. We’ve seen a couple of trailers and several stills, but overall it feels like Columbia Pictures is almost sweeping this under the rug. And this poster seems…strange considering this is more of a costume drama and not a frat-boy college movie. With Robert Pattinson starring, the film should at least turn a profit at the theater by attracting the Twilight crowd. Is it possible the studio wasn’t impressed with the finished product?
The film stars Robert Pattinson as a war veteran that gets caught up in the politics of 1890′s Paris by seducing various women. Along with Pattinson, it will feature Christina Ricci, Uma Thurman, Kristen Scott Thoms and Colm Meaney. It’s being handled by the directing duo of Declan Donnellan and Nick Ormerod. BEL AMI hits theaters on March 2nd.
