Ridley Scott officially signs on for The Counselor, Michael Fassbender may star

Michael Fassbender

When news broke that Cormac McCarthy was writing his first spec script, THE COUNSELOR, everyone figured it would gain steam pretty quickly, but I don’t think anyone thought it would go this fast.  Ridley Scott has officially signed on to direct the film, which is only described as NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN on steroids and follows a cocky lawyer that mistakenly thinks he can handle the drug trade business.  Things must have gone well on the set of Ridley Scott’s PROMETHEUS because if everything goes right, he’ll have Michael Fassbender starring in the lead role.  And remember when I said this was happening fast?  Well, production is set to start on May 1st, a mere two months away.

There were a few Oscar snubs this year, but the only one that rubbed me the wrong way was Michael Fassbender not getting any love for SHAME.  Between that and X-MEN: FIRST CLASS, Fassbender had a great 2011 and with roles like THE COUNSELOR, he could have a great 2012/2013 and beyond.
