Andrew Garfield runs into a doorman in the first clip from The Amazing Spider-Man

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN is just over four months away and now we’ll slowly start to see the marketing kick into overdrive. Below you can find the first official clip (courtesy of the film’s viral site) from the film, featuring Peter Parker bumping into a doorman and taking slack from him. It reminds me of the ‘Doorman’ episode from Seinfeld and although it might work in the overall context of the film, I’m not sure it was the best clip to start getting people excited. I doubt I’m alone in having reservations about the film and it would behoove the filmmakers to give us something that clearly sets this apart from the Spider-Man films we’ve seen so far. But at least from this clip, we can get a little bit of the witty, fast paced dialogue Marc Webb used so efficiently in 500 DAYS OF SUMMER.
THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Dennis Leary, Rhys Ifans, Martin Sheen, Cambell Scott and Sally Field. The Marc Webb directed film hits theaters on July 3rd, 2012.
