Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese back on track for The Wolf of Wall Street

There’s little to no debate as to which actor-director duo is the best of our generation. That honor clearly belongs to Leonardo DiCaprio and martin Scorsese. The dynamic duo have worked together four times with their movies generating a whopping 26 Academy Award nominations (although no wins for Leonardo DiCaprio); GANGS OF NEW YORK (10), THE AVIATOR (11), THE DEPARTED (5) and SHUTTER ISLAND, all of which were quality (if not always great) films. If both Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese stopped making movies today, those four movies alone would be more than enough to cement their legacy as one of the greatest actor-director combinations in cinema history.
The duo have some projects they’ve been tinkering with that could easily double that number over the next ten years or so. It looks like Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese have finally decided on THE WOLF OF WALL STREET as their next project. The film has been in development for quite some time, but has been pushed to the back burner on numerous occasions while the studios (Paramount and Warner Bros.) fought and the two stars moved on to other projects. Leonardo DiCaprio went and made THE GREAT GATSBY while Marty made the very popular HUGO.
THE WOLF OF WALL STREET is based off the book by Jordan Belfort and focuses on his time as a drug/sex addicted stockbroker (to be played by Leonardo DiCaprio) in New York City who refuses to cooperate in a large fraud case. The book has all kinds of Marty-ish elements, including corruption, the mob and huge cover-ups, all involving the financial banking sector. Personally, I’ll be happy to see Scorsese back to doing R-rated movies and any time you get Leonardo DiCaprio in a juicy role, you’re in for good things. I liked HUGO fine, but nobody does violence and corruption quite like Scorsese. Shooting is already scheduled for August. (Deadline)
