Prometheus trailer #2 showcases more Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender in action
When I compiled my list of the most anticipated movies of 2012, I didn’t include Ridley Scott’s PROMETHEUS because I had little to no interest in revisiting the Alien universe, regardless of whether or not it was a prequel, sequel or lateral story. But after catching the new PROMETHEUS trailer, I may have to revisit my list. It’s not common for a trailer to change my opinion of a film so quickly, but the PROMETHEUS trailer managed to do just that. This particular PROMETHEUS trailer debuted to a bunch of lucky fans that were attending Wondercon today out in California. When you compare it to the first PROMETHEUS trailer, it blows it away. It definitely seems this is the return to form for Ridley Scott we’ve been waiting for.
There’s still precious little that’s been confirmed about the film and we didn’t get a whole lot more about the story from the PROMETHEUS trailer, but we do know that concerns a group of scientists that are sent out to explore a distant land that tests their physical and mental limits. But while on that world, they discover the answers to some of life’s most profound and deepest mysteries. But the price is steep as they struggle to find a way back home. As you can see from the PROMETHEUS trailer below, it features a blend of psychological thrills as well as visually stunning effects.
PROMETHEUS stars Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Logan Marshall-Green, Idris Elba, Sean Harris and Kate Dickie. The film hits theaters on June 8th, 2012. I’m clearly impressed by this PROMETHEUS trailer, and I love the visual effects, but when it comes to the original ALIEN, I’ve always been more impressed with the mental aspects of the film than the actual action. From the looks of it, the same should be true for PROMETHEUS.
Note: the first PROMETHEUS trailer below is the short IMAX trailer. The full length trailer will be updated when it hits the web later today.
