Jessica Biel joins Helen Mirren and Scarlett Johansson in Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho

Jessica Biel

There was a time there that I thought Jessica Biel would be a much bigger star.  But much like Megan Fox, Biel is known more for having an incredible physique and less for her acting ability.  Couple that with a few really bad movies and Jessica Biel hasn’t been able to breakthrough the B-level status.  That’s not to say Jessica Biel isn’t a decent actress.  She’s shown flashes of talent in films like THE RULES OF ATTRACTION, LONDON and THE ILLUSIONIST, but then Jessica Biel turns in stinkers like STEALTH, HOME OF THE BRAVE and EASY VIRTUE and we remember why she’s not more famous.  But she has her fans out there and as long as she works out at an obsessive pace like she has been the last ten years, Jessica Biel will continue to get opportunities.

Next up for Jessica Biel is ALFRED HITCHCOCK AND THE MAKING OF PSYCHO. She’ll have a small part, playing PSYCHO star Vera Miles.  Miles did a great job in the film, but was obviously overshadowed by the smaller, yet more powerful performance of Janet Leigh.  The film will focus on the relationship between Alfred Hitchcock and his wife, Alma as Hitchcock tried to find financial backing for what would become his most famous film. Hollywood loves their movies about movies and the early word on the script is that it should be a player come awards season.

The cast is coming together nicely and along with Jessica Biel, the film will star Anthony Hopkins set to play Alfred Hitchcock, Helen Mirren to play his wife Alma Reville, Scarlett Johansson to play Janet Leigh and James D’Arcy to play Anthony Perkins.  The film will be directed by Sacha Gervasi from a script by John McLaughlin and Tom Thayer.  Filming will start in April.
