Robert Pattinson looks serious in new trailer for Cosmopolis

A new trailer has been released for David Cronenberg’s upcoming film COSMOPOLIS and I have to admit that I’m not terribly impressed right now. Up until this point I was interested to see Robert Pattinson take on a role in a thriller/drama but I’m also not really impressed with his performance in this short bit. Considering the awful things that is supposed to be happening to Robert Pattinson’s character (Eric Packer) in this twenty-four hour time period, I wasn’t getting the sense that the character was overly concerned about what was going on, I thought he might be a little more anxious. In fact, Robert Pattinson had a blasé look on his face for most of the trailer that made wonder whether or not I had the synopsis matched up with the correct film.
COSMOPOLIS is based off the novel of the same name by Don DeLillo and follows Eric Packer (Robert Pattinson) as he cruises around Manhattan in a limousine. Packer bets his entire fortune against the Yen, loses all his money, has sexual relations with various women who don’t seem to have his best interest at heart and he’s being stalked by someone who he believes is trying to murder him. That’s a very busy day, and I’d really like to know what’s up with that giant rat wandering the streets. If anyone wants to give me a heads up that would be great. I’d also like to know if anyone else is excited about seeing Robert Pattinson in this film after watching this trailer. I really do want Robert Pattinson to succeed in this film, but it’s just not something that looks terribly interesting to me right now. Though that’s probably because of the trailer and not because of Robert Pattinson.
COSMOPOLIS stars Robert Pattinson, Jay Baruchel, Paul Giamatti, Kevin Durand, Juliette Binoche, Smantha Morton, Mathieu Amalric and Sarah Gadon and is directed by David Cronenberg. We still don’t yet know when this will hit theaters in the U.S., but it will be at the Cannes Film Festival later this year, most likely this fall.
