Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Peña protect the streets in new trailer for End of Watch
We’re finally getting a trailer for the cop drama END OF WATCH starring Jake Gyllenhaal and MichaelPeña, and it looks like it could be a good cop film. Which isn’t saying much since there are more mediocre cop films than good ones, but that’s just a matter of opinion I suppose. Either way, END OF WATCH looks gritty and seems to be shot in a documentary-esque way so at least that’s a twist.
END OF WATCH follows the long-term friendship and partnership of Officer Taylor (Jake Gyllenhaal) and Officer Zavala (MichaelPeña). Through family events and what looks to be a big case that may get them killed, the two officers cruise the streets of Los Angeles together in this film directed by David Ayer. END OF WATCH is set to hit theaters on September 28, 2012.
Cop dramas aren’t really a genre that I typically gravitate towards, but I do enjoy Jake Gyllenhaal as well as Michael Peña so I’ll definitely be catching this when it comes to Blu-ray. It’s time for Jake Gyllenhaal to get a win at the box office since his previous two films (SOURCE CODE and LOVE AND OTHER DRUGS) didn’t do so hot, and PRINCE OF PERSIA: THE SANDS OF TIME was nothing short of disastrous. However, I don’t worry too much about Jake Gyllenhaal because he’s a guy who always manages to take diverse and risky roles so I know that he’ll hit the nail on the head eventually. I’m not sure he’ll manage that with END OF WATCH, but it looks like it’ll be a good film on his resume regardless of whether or not it’s a box office success. Jake Gyllenhaal just needs a huge box office success to cement himself as a big time Hollywood star. It’s coming, I can feel it.
