Rebecca Hall will join Robert Downey Jr. in Iron Man 3
With THE AVENGERS already in theaters and raking in oodles of money at the box office, it’s time to move onto yet another superhero film in the works which will be IRON MAN 3. It’s been reported that Rebecca Hall (THE TOWN, EVERYTHING MUST GO, FROST/NIXON and VICKY CRISTINA BARCELONA) has joined the star-studded cast and will take over the female lead left vacant since Scarlett Johansson won’t be returning to the series. Which by the way, shouldn’t we be hearing something about a Black Widow spin-off any day now? It’s only a matter of time before Black Widow and Hawkeye get their own films.
IRON MAN 3 will be directed by Shane Black and in addition to Rebecca Hall will star: Robert Downey Jr. (Tony Stark/Iron Man), Gwyneth Paltrow (Pepper Potts), Guy Pearce (Aldrich Killian), Ben Kingsley (The Mandarin) and Don Cheadle (Lt. Col. James Rhodes/War Machine). Rebecca Hall will play Maya Hansen, a scientist and associate of Aldrich Killian’s. Killian’s character will create a virus called Extremis that will be an integral part of the IRON MAN 3 story line. Rebecca Hall’s character will also be a semi-love interest for Tony Stark. Production on IRON MAN 3 starts later this month and will be released in theaters on May 3, 2013.
Although Rebecca Hall has been in the business for quite some time, she really hit the ground running when she starred alongside Ben Affleck in THE TOWN. Rebecca Hall can be seen later this year with Bruce Willis and Catherine Zeta-Jones in LAY THE FAVORITE (which is supposedly working its way through the festival circuit) and has signed on to a currently untitled international suspense thriller which she’ll star in with Eric Bana. Adding IRON MAN 3 to her resume will mean that Rebecca Hall will become more of a household name and should get her bigger roles in bigger films. (Variety)
