Robert Pattinson adds another project to his plate; is going to star in a movie about The Band

Robert Pattinson

We went almost two years without hearing a word as to what Robert Pattinson was going to do after COSMOPOLIS and in the span of a couple of months, we can’t get him to stop taking on more projects.  Robert Pattinson still has BEL AMI, COSMOPOLIS and of course, THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN PART 2 coming this year.  Recently, he’s signed on to several projects, including the military interrogator drama MISSION: BLACKLIST, THE ROVER with Guy Pearce and just yesterday, an untitled reteaming with David Cronenberg.  If that wasn’t enough, today Robert Pattinson mentioned in an interview that he’ll also be starring in a biopic on the legendary band…The Band.

And I realize that a lot of people reading this don’t know who or what “The Band” is since they weren’t Mouseketeers and never had a song on a “Now, That’s What I Call…” CD.  To make our lives easier, go rent/buy Martin Scorsese’s incredible rock documentary THE LAST WALTZ, which chronicles their last concert together.  They were mostly famous for touring with Bob Dylan, but they had several hits of their own, including “The Weight” and “The Night They Drove Ol’ Dixie Down”.  I’m not sure their music holds up to the High School Musical generation, but they’re a great band to listen to when you start caring about what songs actually mean.

Of course, the only thing we know about the project is what Robert Pattinson said “I’m going to do a movie about The Band, the one that played with Dylan.  It’s a beautiful script about the nature of songwriting.”  So…yeah, not much to go on and we can assume there’s no director or studio involved yet.  But we do know that Robert Pattinson likes his music as much as he likes acting, so it makes since that he would try to combine the two somehow.  (RPLife)
