Marvel and Walt Disney Studios have announced that the summer superhero blockbuster THE AVENGERS from director Joss Whedon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Firefly)  will be released in a Blu-ray 3D/Blu-ray/DVD/Digital Copy combo pack as well as a Blu-ray/DVD combo pack on September 25th, 2012.

THE AVENGERS follows our favorite superheroes: Captain America (Chris Evans), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) and Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) who team up with S.H.I.E.L.D, run by Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) to fight against the Asgardian god Loki (Tom Hiddleston).  Also along for the ride are actors: Gwyneth Paltrow, Cobie Smulders, Stellan Skarsgard ad Clark Gregg.

Though THE AVENGERS opened just last month, it’s still raking in the big bucks as it just crossed the $600 million mark at the box office. Lucky for us the studios won’t make us wait until next year to own it on Blu-ray. Check out the trailer for THE AVENGERS Blu-ray below.
