Matt Damon goes bald in the first look at Neill Blomkamp's Elysium

Is it just me, or are there a lot of politically charges science-fiction movies on the horizon? We have Tom Cruise’s OBLIVION, set in a world where the humans live in the clouds to avoid the alien race below. Guillermo Del Toro has PACIFIC RIM, in which an alien race attacks earth and consumes all of its resources. The Wachowski’s have CLOUD ATLAS, and who knows what that’s about. Finally, Neill Blomkamp (DISTRICT 13) has another politically motivated sci-fi film called ELYSIUM, which might be a little more obvious with its political undertones and is set in the future where the wealthy live in Elysium and fight to keep the poorer population from immigrating. And oh, here’s a bald Matt Damon, who takes on a dangerous mission which will be the basis of the film.
Along with Matt Damon, ELYSIUM stars Jodie Foster, Alice Braga, Sharlto Copley, Wagner Moura, William Fichtner and Diego Luna. ELYSIUM opens in theaters everywhere on March 1st, 2013. (EW)
