Kristen Bell replaces Kate Bosworth in The Lifeguard
It seems like Kristen Bell had fallen off into obscurity over the last few years, but she’s actually been pretty busy with films like: SAFETY NOT GUARANTEED, BIG MIRACLE and the summer comedy HIT AND RUN and now she’s adding another film to her resume. Looks like Kristen Bell has just signed on to replace Kate Bosworth in the indie film THE LIFEGUARD. Directed by Liz W. Garcia, THE LIFEGUARD follows Leigh (Kristen Bell), a reporter getting ready to hit the big 3-0 and suddenly decides to abandon her New York City life to return home and resume her high school job as a lifeguard. While attending to the pool she falls in love with a 16-year-old boy. Sounds vaguely interesting.Along with Kristen Bell, THE LIFEGUARD will star: Mamie Gummer, Martin Starr, Alex Shaffer, Joshua Harto and Amy Madigan. Shooting will start in Pittsburgh later this month.
I’m a fan of Kristen Bell and am pulling for her to make a big hit. I really thought she might get her shot in THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE and THE HUNGER GAMES: MOCKINGJAY, as Johanna Mason but it just wasn’t meant to be, I guess. Though I do think she would have been a better pick than Jenna Malone. (Deadline)
