Daniel Craig shows up as James Bond at the Olympics, plus watch the new Skyfall TV spot
If you watched the opening ceremony to the 2012 Olympics in London last night, then you were in for a treat. Danny Boyle outdid himself with a spectacular ceremony that was witty, amazing and very, very British (I mean that in a good way). Overall, it was pretty great. But what you also got was a look at Daniel Craig as James Bond escorting the Queen of England to the opening ceremony. At first I thought it was a lame marketing ploy and thought it shouldn’t have been included, but the more I think about it, the more I like it. It was kind of cool to see James Bond at the Olympics, even if it was followed by a shameless TV spot for the new film.
Which brings us to said shameless TV spot, which you can watch below. For the record, I was going to show you Daniel Craig at the Olympics as well, but the Olympics Committee is going nuts making everyone take all Olympics related videos down. Anyway, the spot below is pretty great, seemingly highlighting all the great action scenes in the film while still showing some vintage Bond. I love the scene of Daniel Craig landing on the back of the train and fixing his cufflinks. Although we’ve seen a teaser trailer already, this is really more of the film than what we’ve been shown previously. We still don’t get a clear look at Javier Bardem as the villain (although you can kind of make him out in the TV spot) and we still don’t know why Bond is in all these action situations.
SKYFALL stars Daniel Craig, Judi Dench, Ben Whishaw, Ralph Fiennes, Ola Rapace, Albert Finney, Javier Bardem, Naomie Harris and Bérénice Marlohe. Directed by Sam Mendes, the 23rd James Bond film opens in theaters on November 9, 2012.
