Jonathan Rhys Meyers will join Lily Collins in The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones

More casting news as we learn that Jonathan Rhys Meyers is the latest to join the young adult novel adaptation of THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS: CITY OF BONES. THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS: CITY OF BONES follows a teenage girl named Clary (Lily Collins) who discovers that she is a descendant of a group called Shadowhunters who protect the Earth from demons and other baddies. Jonathan Rhys Meyers will play the Shadowhunter Valentine Morgenstern who has been described as ” a powerful but insane Shadowhunter looking to make the world pure at any cost.” I can’t think of anyone better to play a nutty character as Jonathan Rhys Meyers gives a good crazy-eyed stare sometimes.
THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS: CITY OF BONES is being directed by Harald Zwart and will star: Kevin Durand, Robert Sheehan, Lena Headey, Jared Harris and Jemima West. Directed by Harald Zwart the film is set to open in theaters on August 23rd, 2013. (THR)
