Have you ever watched a performance, whether it be at a sporting event, a concert or a movie, and felt thankful for witnessing such a command mastering of the particular profession? That’s the way I feel whenever I see a Daniel Day-Lewis movie. I don’t always love his films, but his immense talent makes me grateful for being there, watching him dive into every character he takes on. I don’t know if there’s another actor alive that could do justice to Abraham Lincoln. Of course, I mean no disrespect to Benjamin Walker’s turn in ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER, which came out earlier this year…

If there’s a weakness in the film, it might be from Steven Spielberg. I know that sounds sacrilegious to say that about a man that has given us so many great movies, but his last few efforts haven’t lived up to expectations. That said, he’s still The Bearded One and we have to have faith. LINCOLN stars Daniel Day-Lewis, Sally Field, Tommy Lee Jones, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Hal Holbrook, James Spader, John Hawkes, Tim Blake Nelson, Jackie Earle Haley, David Oyelowo and Adam Driver. The film hits theaters on a wide release on November 16th, 2012. If he hasn’t done so already, Daniel Day-Lewis should clear a spot on his mantle for another Oscar.
