Dwayne Johnson will play Hercules in Brett Ratner's new film
Dwayne Johnson has lined up another interesting project and will this time be teaming with director Brett Ratner for HERCULES. This version of the story will actually be based on the “Hercules” comic books from Radical Publishing, and they don’t seem to strictly follow the Greek myths. In the films Hercules (played by Dwayne Johnson), the demi-god son of Zeus, is tormented because he has been challenged with tasks his entire life and has lost his family. The only thing he takes comfort in now is his performance on the battlefield. He befriends six similar men and women and they become mercenaries for the King of Thrace. However, the king’s motives seem a little out of line with Hercules morals and he must decide whether or not to challenge his employer. Production for HERCULES is set to start in early 2013, so we should see this sometime in 2014.
Dwayne Johnson can be seen next in the films: SNITCH, G.I.JOE: RETALIATION, EMPIRE STATE, PAIN & GAIN, THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS 6 and LORE. He’s a busy guy and has a lot going on next year. (Deadline)
