Robert Downey Jr., Rebecca Hall and Iron Patriot in new stills from Iron Man 3

Admit it; you’re a little nervous about IRON MAN 3. Marvel and the filmmakers know you are because we seem to be in a little bit of damage control lately. Director Shane Black recently calmed everyone down and confirmed that IM3 was going to be light and no the serious film that everyone thought it was. And now Marvel has released a few images, although none of them will ease anyone’s fears that the film is going to be too serious. But there’s a lot of pressure on IRON MAN 3 because technically, this film starts off Marvel’s infamous “Phase 2” and is the start of the buildup to THE AVENGERS 2. Personally, I don’ think you can go wrong with Robert Downey Jr. in the role, but Shane Black has only directed one prior film, KISS KISS BANG BANG, so it will be interesting to see how he handles directing a blockbuster after haven written so many of them (LETHAL WEAPON, LAST ACTION HERO, etc.)
IRON MAN 3 stars Robert Downey, Jr. (Tony Stark/Iron Man), Gwyneth Paltrow (Pepper Potts), Rebecca Hall (Maya Hansen), Guy Pearce (Aldrich Killian), Ben Kingsley (The Mandarin), Don Cheadle (Lt. Col. James Rhodes/War Machine) and James Badge Dale (Eric Savin/Coldblood). The Shane Black directed film is set to release in theaters on May 3rd, 2013.
