RED was a decent movie, but it’s not one that really deserved a sequel, so I guess I shouldn’t be too hard on myself for forgetting that they were even making one. But the first trailer for RED 2 has just been released and to the film’s credit, it looks kind of fun. I’m sure we’ll be in for plenty more “I’m too old for this” gags in the final product, but at least they kept them out of the trailer. I still can’t decide if Bruce Willis still has it, or if his dabbling in B-movie territory has ruined his A-list status, but 2013 will be a telling year, especially after the release of A GOOD DAY TO DIE HARD in February. It’s also nice to see some new faces in the sequel, most notably Catherine Zeta-Jones and Anthony Hopkins.

RED 2 stars Bruce Willis, John Malkovich, Mary-Louise Parker, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Byung-Hun Lee, Helen Mirren, Karl Urban, Neal McDonough, Anthony Hopkins and David Thewlis. The Dean Parisot directed film is set to hit theaters on August 2nd.
