Mark Wahlberg and Denzel Washington look tough in the first image from 2 Guns

Denzel Washington is about as sure a thing in Hollywood as you can get, so if I were casting an action-drama, he’d be at the top of my list. Mark Wahlberg? Not so much. Although the former rapper (no, I will never let that go) impressed me last year with his comedic skills in TED, he reminded me of his mediocrity a couple of weeks ago in BROKEN CITY. Add to the fact that 2 GUNS is directed by his CONTRABAND director Baltasar Kormakur and I’m only cautiously optimistic that Denzel can save 2 GUNS. But hey, fun fact; much of Universal Pictures’ 2 GUNS was filmed in Albuquerque, NM and to be specific, some of the more intense action scenes were filmed behind one of my friends’ house. He complained constantly that the bright lights and loud sounds kept him up all night and eventually had to resort to blacking out his windows and wearing ear plugs. So there’s that.
2 GUNS stars Mark Wahlberg, Denzel Washington, Paula Patton, James Marsden, Bill Paxton, Edward James Olmos, Fred Ward and Robert John Burke. The film hits theaters everywhere on August 16th. Check out the image below, complete with cash flying in the air, making me think this is in the middle of a slow motion shot. And you have to love the angle as they try to hid Wahlberg’s short height.
