Chris Pine and Benedict Cumberbatch face off in more images from Star Trek: Into Darkness

So is Benedict Cumberbatch really going to be playing John Harrison and not Khan in STAR TREK: INTO DARKNESS? That’s the question that’s on every Trekkie’s mind across the world. I of course don’t know the answer and although I’m curious, I’m not as passionate about finding the answer as I know many of you are. But I kind of find the whole secrecy surrounding the film and in particular, the villain to be impressive on the part of J.J. Abrams. Even George Lucas had trouble keeping things secret with the Star Wars prequels, but Abrams has managed to keep the true villain’s identity in the Star Trek sequel a source of mystery for quite a while. That’s impressive in this day and age. Two new pictures have been released today and I’m not sure they reveal anything, but they do show an intense Chris Pine next to Zachary Quinto above and Benedict Cumberbatch below.

STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS will star Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, Zoe Saldana, Anton Yelchin, John Cho, Bruce Greenwood, Benedict Cumberbatch, Alice Eve and Peter Weller. The J.J. Abrams directed film will hit theaters on May 17th, 2013, but will debut on IMAX screens on May 15th. (StarTrekMobile)
