Bradley Cooper’s foray into real acting got a welcomed boost as Robert De Niro has signed on to star alongside Cooper in the upcoming drama THE DARK FIELDS. We just heard unconfirmed reports that Elizabeth Banks could be playing the female lead in the thriller and so the cast is beginning to fill out. The film is about a man that takes a drug to make himself smarter and receives financial and social success because of it, only to find out there are harsh side effects. Leslie Dixon wrote the script based off the book by Alan Glynn. Neil Burger will be handling directing duties.
Robert De Niro has had a string of bad films recently, but he’s still one of the best actors around. I’m hoping Burger knows what to do with him. The real question is whether or not Bradley Cooper can handle a role that doesn’t require him to woo a leading lady.

A while ago we learned that Bradley Cooper was going to be starring in Neil Burger’s DARK FIELDS. The story is about a writer that stumbles upon a drug that makes you smarter and after taking it, he becomes financially and socially successful, only to learn that the drug has harsh side effects. Today we have an unconfirmed report that Elizabeth Banks will be starring opposite Cooper in the thriller. To date, this will seemingly be the first time Cooper has really challenged himself as an actor, so I’m looking forward to this.
Banks is one of those actresses that I tend to go back and forth on. Sometimes I really like her and other times she’s very unappealing. I do like that she chooses different roles and has managed to avoid being pigeon holed in a particular genre.

Today we have more new pictures from the upcoming A-TEAM film. Fox has been hitting the internet pretty hard with advertising for the film and it sees to be paying off. The buzz is pretty high for the film and everything we’ve seen so far makes it look pretty fun. I don’t know about that first picture, though, they almost look like the women from Sex and the City in that pose. Click here to watch the film’s trailer.
As you know, the film stars Liam Neeson as Hannibal, Bradley Cooper as Face, Sharlto Copely as Murdock and Rampage Jackson as B.A. Baracus. It’s being directed by Joe Carnahan and will hit theaters June 11th, 2010.

Garry Marshall has put one heck of a cast together for his next film VALENTINE’S DAY. The cast is so big, and so well known that I can’t tell what the movie is about because 30 seconds of the trailer is spent listing everyone that’s in the film. Apparently, it’s an interweaving tale of various people and couples on Valentine’s Day. The cast includes, but is not limited to: Julia Roberts, Ashton Kutcher, Bradley Cooper, Taylor Lautner, Taylor Swift, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Biel, Emma Roberts, Jennifer Garner, Jamie Foxx, Patrick Dempsey, Eric Dane, Topher Grace, Jessica Alba and Queen Latifah.
Whew. I didn’t even get to everyone, I just got tired of writing. Watch the trailer here.

Four guys head to Vegas for a bachelor party. We have the groom, Doug, played by Justin Bartha, his two best friends, Phil, played by Bradley Cooper and Stu, played by Ed Helms. Then we have Doug’s sloppy, slow, soon to be brother in-law Alan played by Zach Galifiankis. Then we cut to the morning after as the fellas begin to regain consciousness, half naked, missing a tooth, a belly button pierced, with a chicken, a tiger and a baby. Oh, and missing one groom. The remaining three with no memory of the evening spend the next two days driving in a police car (another mystery) searching for answers piecing together the night to hopefully find the groom before his wedding.

I can’t express how great this concept is. I love the premise!!! Working in reverse, we as an audience keep finding out the answers along with the characters as to why something happened. As a ‘Lost’ fan, this was quite fulfilling; continually receiving answers rather than asking questions. A lot of credit is in order to the Director, Todd Phillips and the writers, Jon Lucas and Scott Moore. The pacing kept the story moving, never letting a joke linger too long. The look of the film was gorgeous contrasting the beauty of the night in Vegas to the “hangover” it can be during the day in the dessert. A joke or element was constantly being delivered then cleverly resolved or left behind before the joke got old or redundant. The film kept the audience wanting more, never tiring of what ever might be thrown in front of them next.

The actors were perfectly cast. Bradley Cooper is on the verge of superstardom and was excellent as the jerk school teacher and good-looking leader of the group. What made him work even more is that he was not invincible to the hardships that the group received. He had his share of brutal punishment, which made him all the more enjoyable. Ed Helms as a dentist who is whipped by his overly angry and controlling girlfriend is absolutely superb. Zach Galifianakis did the impossible by stealing the show from a perfectly performed cast with his “to stupid to insult” personality. He has sincerity with his dumbness and an endearing quality of wanting to be accepted, specifically by Cooper’s character that he constantly emulates.

Be sure to stick around for the ending credits because here is what gives this film the hard R revealing photo shots of what actually happened throughout the night. This was such a satisfying and fulfilling comedy, which is a rarity in most films I come across today. Sure there is some unrealism in certain scenarios and some jokes might seem too silly or sophomoric at times but the people working in this film sell it well. I believe this movie will be a long-lasting “classic”, enduring the test of time with the current generation for if nothing else than it’s quote-ability factor. THE HANGOVER is laugh out loud, uproariously funny.

The trailer for the horror flick CASE 39 is here and it looks like they’re falling back on the old adage that kids are creepy. Not all kids mind you, but emotionless little girls with long, straight, black hair are definitely creepy. In the film, Renee Zellweger stars as a social worker assigned to investigate the abuse of a little girl. When she gets to her house, she finds that there’s a lot more going on than abuse and the situation quickly gets out of hand. Bradley Cooper and Ian McShane also star in the film directed by Christian Alvart.
Watch the trailer here.

The man of the moment right now has got to be Bradley Cooper. Virtually every big movie that comes out has his name attached to it, but he’s finally settled on a somewhat complicated suspense thriller called DARK FIELDS. Neil Burger (THE ILLLUSIONIST) will direct the film for Relativity Media.
Variety describes the film as: “a what-if story about a designer drug that can make you rich and powerful. Eddie (Cooper) is a down-and-out New York writer until he possesses a pill that gives him the ability to access the full capacity of his brain. He soon realizes that his newfound intelligence and success come at a hefty price as mysterious forces begin to pursue him.”
That sounds like a complicated concept to me. Films like that can usually go either way, so here’s hoping Cooper and Burger can pull it off.

He Said/She Said is a bi-weekly column where a male and female reviewer from the site team up to debate the merits of a particular film.
He Said:
There are few things more annoying in life than a single woman that spends her time in a bar and dating every guy with a pulse, but complains that she can’t find anyone and doesn’t understand why. So the prospect of watching a two hour movie about a woman that does just that was not an appealing one, to say the least.

The structure of the film is a little odd in that half the film revolves around Ginnefer Goodwin (the aforementioned annoying woman) and her struggle to find love, while the second half revolves around several other characters and their struggles. The other actors include; Jennifer Connoly, Jennifer Aniston, Ben Affleck, Bradley Cooper, Drew Barrymore and Scarlett Johansson. You might have already picked up on the fact that all of the other, lesser used actors are actually A-list, Hollywood stars and the “main” actress is someone you haven’t heard of. Make no mistake about it; this is an epic fail on the part of the filmmakers. Goodwin isn’t cut out to star in a Toyota commercial, let alone carry a film with six A-list stars in supporting roles.

The worst part about the film is that I really enjoyed every other story but Goodwin’s. I was genuinely interested in whether or not the other couples were going to make it or not and while we were following them, I was pleasantly surprised with the stories. But unfortunately, that’s only half the film. In the end, the good didn’t outweigh the bad and the result is a frustratingly annoying movie that was very close to being enjoyable.
She Said:
For the first thirty to forty-five minutes, I found myself disgusted with this film. All Hollywood needed was another movie to make women seem desperate, pathetic and downright crazy when it comes to men. I couldn’t stand the thought of watching it until about three quarters through I found myself liking the characters and feeling for them and their predicaments. It started out as a typical story about single women trying to find the right guy but evolved into a story about the more complicated aspects of relationships. Some of the storylines were dull and ended as expected but it was done well enough to change my attitude about the entire film.

As for Ginnefer Goodwin, I thought she was cute and has potential A-list status. Her character was annoying and came off as desperate, but I think anyone in that role would have the same problem; it was strictly a character issue, not an actress issue. In my opinion, Jennifer Connolly’s character was the most obnoxious; the way they had her character react to the situation she was in was a little frustrating, as it encourages the stereotype that married women turn a little crazy – not a fan of that received idea. The rest of the characters were alright, and of course I would have liked to see some storylines more than others but overall I found myself enjoying the ride, eventually.

A while ago, we posted the first un-official picture of the new A-Team, taken on the set. But now we have an official pic of our favorite ex-cons. Seeing Liam Neeson as Hannibal, Bradley Cooper as Face, Sharlto Copely as Murdock and Rampage Jackson as B.A. Baracus actually gets me excited for this movie. You can even see the van behind Face. They look great in their respective roles, especially Liam Neeson as Hannibal. Somewhere George Peppard is smiling.

ComingSoon.net has the first look at the new cast of THE A-TEAM, starring Liam Neeson as Hannibal, Bradley Cooper as Face, Sharlto Copely as Murdock and Rampage Jackson as B.A. Baracus. I have to admit, the team looks great and I’m looking forward to this one.
While we’re on the topic, have you tried to go back and watch an episode of the A-Team lately? If you’ve only seen one, then you may not have realized that they used the exact same storyline in every single episode. I watched the first season recently and I couldn’t make it through. Anyway, click below for a larger pic over at ComingSoon.net
