Woody Harrelson, Kat Dennings, Elias Koteas and Sandra Oh star in the upcoming wannabe-superhero movie THE DEFENDOR.  In it, Woody plays a hapless loser that dresses up like a superhero (The Defendor) to fight crime and bring down a master criminal that he may or may not have made up.  If I had seen this trailer a few years ago, I would say it looks funny and interesting, but now it looks a little too familiar given recent films like KICK-ASS.  I’m not saying it won’t be good, but it loses some originality points in my book.

With that said, I like seeing Woody back in a comedic role.  He excels in these types of films and I think it will be enjoyable for him alone.  That, and it has that indie charm to it that will be interesting to see in a “superhero” movie.  Peter Stebbings is directing for the first time from a script he also wrote.  No release date has been set.
