Peter Morgan-scripted Riptide looking at Brad Pitt and Shia LaBeouf

Brad Pitt and Shia LaBeouf have both been offered roles in Summit Entertainment’s RIPTIDE. The script is a rewrite by Peter Morgan who has a couple of Oscar nominations for THE QUEEN and FROST/NIXON. Add in the two actors and we have a great recipe for at the very least an interesting film. However, they have only been offered the parts, neither stars have accepted the roles yet.

The film is a “whodunnit” mystery type that takes place on board a ship. A man is found dead floating in the sea and an investigator (Pitt) is called in to figure out all the who’s, what’s and why’s. The crime centers around, a handyman, a young stock broker (LaBeouf) and the stock broker’s girlfriend. I wonder if it will be anything like CLUE with lots of alternate versions and zany situations with Brad Pitt running around everywhere explaining what possibly happened.

Cecile de France joins Matt Damon in Clint Eastwood’s Hereafter

Matt Damon and Cecile de France have teamed up for the Clint Eastwood drama HEREAFTER. The story is about how three people are touched by death and has supernatural undertones.  The screenplay was written by Peter Morgan and is set to be released in 2010.

I think Clint Eastwood is an excellent filmmaker and will watch anything he directs, especially if it has Matt Damon in it.  Look for another Damon and Eastwood collaboration this December in the film INVICTUS.
